The following memberships are available:

Individual Members

  • All active researchers in Chemical Sciences and other related areas having an undergraduate or postgraduate degree shall be eligible to be enrolled as individual members of the Society.

  • The Governing Council may, at its discretion and on merits of each case, make an exception and admit as an individual member a person who does not fulfill the educational qualification.

  • An individual may pay a lump sum fee of Rs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand only) at the time of admission as a member towards Life Membership fee.

  • Student membership are available at a discounted fee of Rs 5,000 (Rupees Five Thousand only) and the student members will be considered as Lifetime members and a discount on registration fee will be applicable to all the CRSI symposia.

Meetings of the Members

A meeting of the members of the society, called General Body Meeting (GBM), shall be held in February and July every year.

The agenda items at the meeting shall include the following:

  • Consideration and adoption of the Annual Report of the Governing Council.

  • Consideration and adoption of the audited Annual Accounts and the Report of the Auditors there on.

  • Appointment of auditors and fixing their remuneration.

  • Approval of the CRSI medals/awards

A notice of the GBM shall be sent to every member at least 21 days before the meeting, stating therein the date, time, venue and the agenda for the meeting.

  • All General Meetings of the Society other than the GBM shall be known as Extraordinary General Meetings and such meetings may be convened to consider any urgent matter by giving a notice of 15 days.

  • One-tenth of the members or fifty members, whichever is less, shall constitute the quorum for any GBM of the Society. If the requisite quorum is not present, then the meeting shall be adjourned for half an hour and thereafter the business will be transacted with the members present forming the quorum, provided the President and at least 14 members are among those present.

  • The accidental omission to send notice to a member or non-receipt of notice by some members shall not affect the validity of the proceedings of a meeting.


Termination of Membership


  • An individual membership shall cease by death, resignation or removal.

  • An individual member whose annual subscription is in arrears for two consecutive years despite reminders from the Society may be removed from the membership of the Society by the Governing Council. Such a member may however be readmitted by the Governing Council on his clearing the arrears and paying, a fine of Rs.200.

  • An individual member is liable to be removed by the Governing Council from the membership of the Society if he/she is declared insolvent or convicted of a criminal offence or he/she has, in the opinion of the Governing Council, behaved or acted in a manner which is in fact and in merit prejudicial or detrimental to the interests of the Society.
